football, poetry and politics

god damn, it's great college football season is back. GO GATORS!

i've received, and returned, the proof of my latest chapbook, [untitled], to be released by Propaganda Press very shortly. i'm very proud of this book and excited for it's release. i'll post the pertinent information here when it's released.

apparently, and this is brand new information, John McCain was a prisoner of war. did anyone else know this?
man, it might be smart for him to start using that in his campaign; like whenever he can: as excuses for his many mistakes and gaffes, as rebuttals to any questions on his ineffectual and outdated policies, as filler during speeches, as proof he's able to lead this country into war.

Since when does being incarcerated make you qualified for anything except life in a box?

Short, bald, & old...& I don't know anyone like that (save Yoda--who, they tell me, isn't real) who isn't a full-on headcase with a seriosu chip on their shoulder. Add the POW stuff (& massive red flags, while you're at it)...no thanks.

If I'm to vote for a dude based on capitivity--want a president whose been held capitive by America's disastrous lack of social programs...someone just like me! We're like prison buddies...

flahute,
that's my point. the mccain camp uses his POW status as a crutch; as if it's enough for him to be president. it's not a quality that should even come into question, much like Obama's race and Hillary's/Palin's sex. it's a non-issue.
and he uses this crutch to explain everything from foreign policy gaffes to outright lies.

Hosho-
seriously! the guy is so out of touch. doesn't know how many houses he owns. jesus christ. thinks middle class ENDS at $5 million a year...wha?!

the guy is too old and too fucking unhinged to be leader of the free world, nevermind the fact that he'll fucking continue us on this path towards oblivion!

I'm far from being a McCain fan. I think this will lead to 4 more years of exactly the same. Let's face it the same is not working. The man says it himself, he has voted WITH BUSH 90% of the time, this is more than anyone else including his fellow republicans. It is time for change it is time for Obama.

However, as to the POW, you have to give the man credit. He was offered to go free because of who his father was, and he declined staying true to their thoughts first one in first one out, and there were others that had been captured long before he. He stayed and was beaten and broken for many years before being released. I will not take this away from him, BUT perhaps he should've run for president 8 years ago instead of Bush.
