update on the house

it's been awhile since my last update.

it appears we will be closing with the mortgage company this coming Tuesday. usually, people close AFTER their final walk-through and inspection, but we will be having that next Thursday. we are closing early -- a big risk, to be sure -- on purpose because otherwise it will be strung out indefinitely by the builder. we NEED to move in. we've got address forwarding already set up with the Post Office and a date and time (next Thursday) set for the movers.

anyway, that's where we stand.
once we move in, get everything situated, and i hook up my scanner, i'll post a series of photos detailing this long, strange trip.

Good news! I feel a little worried for you, though. What happens if during the walk-through something comes up? Do you still have the right to get them to fix it?

Sending good vibes! Post pictures! It looks like a great house!

oh, i plan on it tonight, brother.

for sure...writing a little Background Noise and drinking some fine Italian chianti. gonna listen to a little Miles, too. a good night planned.

Kat,
we do have recourse if we find something, so we're not worried. the only reason we don't want to do it would be because we pay a little extra in interest during those extra 3 or 4 days. big whoop, is what i say. i just want to FREAKING move in.

justin,

Good. I'm glad that you can do something if there's a problem.

I totally understand. I've been thinking about our move since January. (I know it's much longer for you guys!) And I feel the same way! Let's hit the road already!

yeah...it's been a big fucking piece of shit.

we're closing tomorrow (Tuesday) and moving on Thursday. it's official.

obviously, the saga never ends as we'll have our final walkthrough sometime around the time we're moving (hopefully not the same EXACT time) and we'll have our punch list for the builder to fix and then we'll have to make sure that is completed.

THEN...THEN, we'll finally be able to relax our sphincters and breath.
